Project paints park plazas perky pink

Purple sunsets over Florida Bay. White ibis adorning cypress branches like holiday ornaments. The emerald River of Grass glistening in the sun. Everglades National Park offers plenty of spectacular vistas. Its buildings, on the other hand, have long defined the word drab -- a blend-into-the-background look reinforced by the beige and brown palette the National Park Service adopted decades ago. A historic renovation underway has restored a forgotten splash of color to some of the buildings. The shade fittingly evokes a feathered visitor well known as the namesake to one of the park's most popular destinations. ``It's very pink. It's actually flamingo pink,'' said Melissa Memory, the park's chief of cultural resources. It is way down in Flamingo, the coastal outpost at the end of the park...
