Egyptian Stock Exchange Won't Reopen Until Feb. 16

Fox Business Sunday 13th February, 2011

WASHINGTON -- The Egyptian Stock Exchange, closed since Jan. 27 as a popular uprising led to the ouster of Hosni Mubarak as president, said it's decided to push back the resumption of trading until Wednesday. The exchange operator had been scheduled to reopen Sunday but said it arrived at the decision upon discussions with regulators, brokerages and the entity responsible for clearing, depository and registry services. The decision was also taken with an eye to getting Egypt's banking sector and telecommunications and Internet services back up to speed. Over Sunday and Monday, the exchange said it will work on technical requirements needed to start trading as well as procedures to be used as soon as the trading begins.Copyright © 2011 MarketWatch, Inc.
