Tom Jicha: Thia, Naima voted out of 'American Idol'

It took 10 years but ';American Idol'; finally concocted a way to transform the results show into a second performance show. In the process it got rid of the frequently laughable group number and added another element to the results process. As a bonus, a way was created to get balladiers Pia Toscano and Jacob Lusk to go up tempo, even if it wasn’t solo. The 11 remaining hopefuls were divided into four groups, each of which performed its own song. Then they were told who was safe and who wasn’t. Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina were up first with ';I Told You So.'; The two country kids might tour together someday. That’s beyond this summer’s ';Idol'; tour.
