Investigative documents released in Tampa police killings

TAMPA — Dontae Morris didn't want to go back to jail.Witness statements included in 745 pages of investigative documents released Friday indicate that after being pulled over in a routine traffic stop June 29, Morris told driver Cortnee Brantley that he didn't plan to return to jail."(Brantley) said when they got pulled, he just grabbed for the gun and like, 'I ain't going back, I can't go back,'" a witness later told a detective.The Hillsborough State Attorney's Office released the documents Friday related to the June slaying of Tampa officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis.St. Petersburg Times reporters have begun to examine them and will update this story throughout the afternoon and evening.According to the witness, Brantley and Morris had been robbing people the night of the pol...
