Sheriff shines light on problem of cyberbullying

PALM COAST -- Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming wants parents to know of a growing problem. His school resource officers are seeing conflicts in the schools that often begin online, in the cyber-world. Saturday afternoon, the resource officers for the county's two high schools hosted a workshop designed to educate parents and guardians about cyberbullying. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office has software designed to let parents see just where kids go while online. It can be picked up at county schools, libraries or the Sheriff's Office. But online is not the only trouble spot. Text messages and smartphone use often go unchecked by parents. And this changing technology is what puts parents behind the curve.
