At the time, I was receiving $30 to see a new Medicaid patient, about one-fifth of what I received from private insurance. Medicaid simply wasn't worth it. I was also having difficulty finding other doctors to work with my Medicaid patients, making my job even harder. Very few would accept this low-paying, high-hassle insurance where tests and treatments were routinely denied.
